Are we human?
Are we still human?
I have worked in recruitment for 15 years now. During this time the way we recruit has changed in so many ways. Technology, marketing and expertise has replaced faxes, sales and the cold calling consultant.
Fundamentally though, we still have one aim. To match employer to candidate.
There are so many ways to access people now, phone, email, social media, Skype, the list goes on. However, it does feel that the human relationship can be lost. At Frankly Recruitment we insist on meeting the job seekers and clients we are representing. Often this is met with suspicion.
Why do you need to meet me?
The truth is, we want to know you. What makes you tick? What are your goals and priorities? How will you be on interview? There are so many things we get from sitting with a human being. Even over the phone or Skype it is difficult to create a natural rapport.
We spend so much time at work. Is it not worth investing an hour of your time with the person who is representing you or your business?
Have you ever tried selling something you don’t really know?
It’s tentative and difficult to put your reputation on the line for. Meet someone and you will naturally influence and be authentic when talking about them. You will understand their flexibility, limitations and potential.
If there is one bit of advice I would like to give. If you are using an agency to recruit for your business or you are a job seeker, invest 1 hour in your consultant. Be human, build a relationship and I promise you the outcome and result will be much improved.
